海威传统手工云吞面 (Hw Wan Tan Mee) is widely praised for its springy, chewy noodles and flavorful black sauce variant, making it a favored spot for wanton noodle enthusiasts in Johor Bahru. The restaurant's spacious setting and prompt service are commonly noted, enhancing the overall dining experience. Customers appreciate the authentic, old-school taste of the wantons, with the fried wanton often recommended as a complementary dish. The addition of lok lok options and the availability of both outdoor and indoor seating further attract a variety of diners. While some feedback suggests the sauce could have deeper complexity and the soup is average, the affordability and consistent quality keep patrons returning, especially for supper and late-night meals.

Great spot for supper with bouncy noodles and quick service HW Wanton Mee serves a pretty satisfying plate of wanton noodles that’s perfect for supper. The noodles are springy and have a nice texture, though slightly overcooked for my preference. The sauce could use a little more depth in flavor, but overall, it’s still a solid dish that hits the spot late at night. Food was served very quickly, and there’s plenty of space to sit—even during the supper crowd. The stall only opens at night, making it a great choice if you’re craving something hearty after dark. There’s also a lok lok stall next door, so you can enjoy both at the same location. They don’t accept credit cards, so bring cash or use Touch ‘n Go for payment. Parking is generally easy, with lots of street parking nearby, though some lots are reserved. A good supper destination in JB if you’re after a classic local fix in a casual, open-air setting.

Restaurant is big and spacious. Easy to get seats. Noodles is springy. Black and white both nice, prefer the white one. Chilli has the kick and blends well. Wanton has old school taste. Soup is tasty. Fried wanton is good, worth to order the extra. Normal noodles does not come with it. Small meat but the skin is fragrant. Second time did a grab takeaway, service is good. Will always go to this if craving for a good wanton noodle.

Finally got a chance to try the famous wanton at Hai Wei. The black sauce option was indeed super flavourful. Ordered some lok lok too. Pretty tasty also (I must say this is only my first time trying lok lok). Atmosphere was nice cause they have outdoor sitting. Clearly dining under the stars was the preferred option for most customers as the aircon sitting was almost empty.

Best wanton noodles I have had in JB! The noodles are super firm and chewy with a great bite. The black sauce dry version is amazing—very flavourful and delicious. I highly recommend this place; in fact, it’s going to be my go-to spot for wanton noodles from now on! Prices are affordable and worth it too.

1st time visit, went there for supper, the waton noodles (either light or dark sauce) are 4/5 , I would recommend the fried wanton dish, the dumpling soup is so-so. Next to the shop is the lok lok which is a bonus you can order them while you’re dining in waton noodles.

Reliable supper food in JB but the char smokey flavour in the springy wanton noodles was incredible! The charsiew and wanton was mid, but the sauce and noodles absolutely carried this plate/bowl of noodles

The Lok Lok is really fresh — hard to find anywhere else in JB that serves it this fresh. Everything’s clean and stored properly in the fridge, away from flies. The Wanton Mee is solid too, definitely one of the better ones in JB.
